Abstract
Paper art belongs to an ancient yet modern category of arts. Its special style, subject, and expression often adequately reflect our colorful life and culture. For this reason, the features of paper art can derive various modern design methods nowadays, especially when nationality and localization are often strongly emphasized. Consequently, modern design can be rooted in the traditional culture and play a new distinct role in modern design.
The idea of this graduation project comes from Chinese folk paper-cuts and the subject is expressed by several different art forms. This subject can be viewed as an inheritance and innovation of traditional paper-cuts. By intelligently exploiting and processing paper materials, the ordinary limitation of flat papers is overcome and a three-dimensional paper-art-based artifact is designed.
