On the merger between Chengdu Sichuan Military Government and Chongqing Shu Military Government after the 1911 Revolution
Abstract
After the 1911 revolution,all of China almost launched revolutions to overthrow the rule of the Qing Dynasty,and set up some local military governments,and the Sichuan region located in the southwest China is no exception.Chongqing declared independence on the second day of October(1909) and built the Shu military government,and Chengdu also announced independence on the seventh day of October and built Dahan Sichuan military government which is latter changed as Chengdu Sichuan military government.On account of the reasons of both the internal and external situations in Sichuan, the stabilized life people needed,and the efforts of relevant parties, Chengdu Sichuan Military government and Chongqing Shu military government (below was called the Chengdu-Chongqin military government) moved towards the merger finally. This article will elaborate the reasons,process,and evaluation of Chengdu-Chongqing military governments’ merger after the Revolution on the perspective of narration, so as to describe the complex and important historical event clearly and objectively.
