Ji Xianlin(季羡林）once proposed that the fundamental difference between Chinese and Indo-Eiiropean languages lies in its fuzziness. Fuzzy language bears such characteristics as flexibility and adaptability, providing readers with space to imagine. Fuzzy beauty also has its particular characteristics, i.e. uncertainty, totality and inter-permeability.(王明居 1998:199-226) The use of fuzzy language is helpful to express the meaning which is hard to express or unnecessary to express exactly. In the light of aesthetics, fuzziness skillfully makes use of human being's cognitive psychological mechanism and can provide the texts with inexhaustible superb beauty and charm.

Example(8):在此仰观俯察，天地悠悠，飘然若在仙境。

Translation: (You) may have a feeling of walking in a “fairyland”, while strolling in the street.

In fact, no one really know how wonderful there is in “仙境”， only imagination help people got fuzzy impression on such items. Readers are quite favorable to these fuzzy descriptions, which are the basic element of the aesthetic constituents. Although there are no clear definitions for these words and expressions, they do reinforce the expressive and aesthetic functions of language.

During the translating practice of translation aesthetics, often is the case that the translator finds himself in an embarrassing position—there is always something only to be sensed, but hard to be conveyed. Under the circumstances, translators have no way but explain things according to their personal comprehension, which requires translators to enrich their knowledge and experience.

2. 3 The Aesthetic Content of Chinese Scenic-Spot Introductions — Culture

Scenic-spot introduction have distinctive features different from other kinds of practical texts. One of the distinctive features is that they embrace an unusual large scale of knowledge. Ranging from religion to geography, from historical allusions to ancient tales, from poems to advertisements, almost all aspects of our life are included in them. The second characteristic of such texts is that they highly embody numerous cultural words. Therefore, the translation of the scenic-spot introductions is actually an intercultural action, with the function of widening foreign tourists9 knowledge and transmitting Chinese unique culture. Many western visitors come to our China, no matter what specific travel motion they are driven by, what they are most interested in is the Chinese culture different from their own. It is a communicative process across different cultures and creates the need to communicate with people of varioxis cultural backgrounds.

Example(9):玉堂春，又名木兰，为花木中的上品。……据说封建时代获得 功名的人，由皇帝赏賜才能种植，故别出心裁称“功名树

Translation: Magnolia is very valuable and at the top grade in flowers. ... It is said that this kind of tree could be only planted with the largess of the feudal emperors to the successful candidates in the imperial examinations.

The description of a plant mentions its related history story, which becomes informative. As for how translator deal with these cultural factors, Newmark suggests that the Ultimate consideration should be recognition of the cultural achievements referred to in the SL text, and respect for all foreign countries and their cultures” (2001:96). In cultural translation, usually “additions are made which cannot be directly derived from the original ST wording; these might take the form of ideas culturally foreign to ST, or even elements which are simply included to provide necessary background information.’’(Shuttleworth & Cowie 2004:36) There are all kinds of constants culturally in English at any rate, and these constraining factors are especially active in tourism activities which can never be ignored.
